Welcome back dear gentle people! It has been just over a year since I last wrote. This past year has gone by so briskly, I hardly know what became of it. When I think back of my predicament this time last year, I feel it must have been a past life dream, where I fell into a foggy abyss of nostalgia, heat, and confusion, an animal realm of sorts. It was such a different place than where I am now. (happy to say)
I came home and suddenly all of my stuff was upon me, years of accumulated treasures. That was pretty intense. I managed to get rid of most of it. I’m still in the process of getting rid of some of it actually. I decided to take pictures of the stuff I’m most attached to, before getting rid of it. Nostalgia is such a slippery slope. It just like instantly transports you right out of the present, into the past. I could write on and on about my process but long story short; IMPERMANENCE, at some point we will lose everything in life. In order to let new energy in and grow to the fullest extent in our relatively short existence, we have to let go of old energy.
I managed to start teaching Yoga, first as a sub at various locations, then for kids at Infinite Love, and eventually I got a job with the city, teaching at a lovely city park. I managed to secure a place to start up a meditation community at Infinite Love!
I also teach poi at the McAllen Nature Center!
Through the help of an old friend, I started teaching English to Chinese kids! That’s fun, even if I have to wake up at 4:30am everyday. Actually, waking up early is a profound practice. Working with sleepiness is one the most challenging states of mind I have ever worked with.
I have continued my massage education by enrolling at a local school. Its been really exciting to continue to learn in this field. There are so many massage therapies to indulge in. Next up on my list is lymphatic massage.
Its been quite a journey spending time with the family. I feel like my family are my ultimate teachers, relentless in their pursuit of my mind training, consciously or not.
Its been so good to catch up with old friends.
I’m seeing now, more than ever, that we have to manifest our reality if we are going to live the life we want, especially here. Greatest doesn’t just happen.
This year’s birthday party was a success! I wanted to bring the same kinds of parties I would help host over at the Shambhala Mountain Center down here…. and … people came… and danced!!
I recently came back from a short trip to Colorado to visit friends and SMC , and have a look around Colorado. It was just what the doctor ordered after being back in the valley for almost a year. It’s impossible not to go crazy down here without leaving this place periodically (come see for yourself).
It was so good to be back at SMC, for many reasons. At the end of the trip, though, I was reminded of why I left, and felt a surge of confidence and readiness to re-embrace my projects in the valley.
I feel like singing is important. I recently hosted a karaoke party with a good friend, Jannette. That was fun.
Soon we will host a Rocky Horror Picture Show dance party. Also, I’m in the annual Rocky Horror Picture Show this year! I’m super excited!
Come see me perform my first on stage burlesque act for the opening scene Oct 20th and 31st!
I feel like being back down here as opened up possibilities for new experiences that are really exciting! Who’d of thought?
